Billing and payment

Our philosophy

At Deep Origin, we believe costs should be up-front, transparent, and fair. That's why you'll see estimates before any purchase and invoices designed to be read by a human. Please let us know if there's anything that we can improve.

Organizations are responsible for billing

At Deep Origin, organizations are responsible for billing. Each time a user purchases a product or service, such as a workstation or storage drive, the purchase is made on behalf of an organization.

Users can control the organization responsible for each purchase by using the organization selection menu in the left navigation bar to select the desired organization.

Limits on organizations without payment methods

Organizations without a valid payment method are limited as outlined below:

  • Balto
    • Up to 100 questions
  • Data Hub
    • Up to 20 GB storage
    • Up to 20 vCPU-hour per month
    • Up to 100k LLM tokens per month
  • Workstations
    • Up to 3 active workstations
    • Up to 4 vCPU per workstation
    • Up to 2 GB RAM per vCPU
    • Up to 100 GB persistent local storage per workstation
    • No backup
  • Drives
    • Up to 1 object storage drive
    • Up to 20 GB storage per drive
    • No backup
  • Organizations
    • Up to 1 organization
    • Up to 5 members

Payments

Billing address

To set up billing, first enter your address by following the steps below. This address will determine your tax charges.

  1. In the left navigation menu, click the "Organizations" item. This will open the organizations menu.
  2. In the organizations menu, click the organization you wish to modify. This will open the settings for the organization.
  3. In the settings for your organization, click the "Billing" tab.
  4. In the "Billing address" section, enter your address
  5. Click the "Update" button.

Adding payment methods

To add a payment method, follow the steps below:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click the "Organizations" item. This will open the organizations menu.
  2. In the organizations menu, click the organization you wish to modify. This will open the settings for the organization.
  3. In the settings for your organization, click the "Billing" tab.
  4. In the "Payment methods" section, click the "Add method" button.
  5. In the window that opens, enter your credit card number, name, and address.
  6. Click the "Add method" button.
Payment by invoice

We also support payment via invoice. To learn more, contact customer support.

Credits

Within Deep Origin, organizations can purchase subscriptions, operations, and infrastructure using credits. Each credit costs 1 USD.

Buying credits

To buy credits, follow the steps below:

  1. Add a payment method as outlined above.
  2. In the left navigation menu, click the "Organizations" item. This will open the organizations menu.
  3. In the organizations menu, click the organization you wish to use. This will open the settings for the organization.
  4. In the settings for your organization, click the "Credits" tab.
  5. In the "Credits" tab, click the "Buy credits" button, enter the number of credits that you'd like to buy, and click the "Checkout" button.

Credit status

To review your credit balance, expenses, and purchases, follow the steps below:

  1. In the left navigation menu, click the "Organizations" item. This will open the organizations menu.
  2. In the organizations menu, click the organization you wish to explore. This will open the settings for the organization.
  3. In the settings for your organization, click the "Credits" tab.
  4. Within the "Credits" tab, your balance is displayed in the "Account balance" section and your expenses and purchases are displayed in the "Monthly usage", "Recent usage", and "Payment history" sections.

Invoices for overages

Invoices for overages beyond your purchased credits are sent shortly after the first of each month, covering charges for the previous month. Invoices are due on the fifth of each month. Follow these steps to view your invoices.

  1. In the left navigation menu, click the "Organizations" item. This will open the organizations menu.
  2. In the organizations menu, click the organization you wish explore. This will open the settings for the organization.
  3. In the settings for your organization, click the "Billing" tab.
  4. In the "Invoice history" section, click the invoice for the previous month.

Subscriptions

Purchasing subscriptions

When the first person in your organization initially signs up for the Deep Origin OS or Balto, your organization will automatically be subscribed to 1 seat of the selected product.

To purchase a subscription for an additional product, follow the steps below:

  1. Purchase credits as outlined above.
  2. In the left navigation menu, click the "Organizations" item. This will open the organizations menu.
  3. In the organizations menu, click the organization you wish to use to buy the subscription. This will open the settings for the organization.
  4. In the settings for your organization, click the "Billing" tab.
  5. In the billing tab, click the "Add a new subscription" button.
  6. In the window that opens, select the product and plan you'd like and click the "Subscribe" button.

Upgrading subscriptions

To upgrade your subscription to a product, follow the steps below:

  1. Purchase credits as outlined above.
  2. In the left navigation menu, click the "Organizations" item. This will open the organizations menu.
  3. In the organizations menu, click the organization you wish to modify. This will open the settings for the organization.
  4. In the settings for your organization, click the "Billing" tab.
  5. In the billing tab, click the "Add a new subscription" button.
  6. In the window that opens, select the product and plan you'd like and click the "Change plan" button.

Downgrading and canceling subscriptions

To downgrade or cancel a subscription, contact support.

Increasing and decreasing seats

To purchase additional seats for a subscription or reduce your seats for a subscription, follow the steps below:

  1. Purchase credits as outlined above.
  2. In the left navigation menu, click the "Organizations" item. This will open the organizations menu.
  3. In the organizations menu, click the organization you wish to modify. This will open the settings for the organization.
  4. In the settings for your organization, click the "Billing" tab.
  5. In the billing tab, find the subscription you'd like to modify and click its edit button.
  6. In the window that opens, enter your preferred number of seats and click the "Update Seats Quantity" button.

Billing schedule

Subscriptions are charged on the first of each month.
